Black Belt Principle #1 – Modesty. There’s nothing wrong with being confident or sure of yourself, in fact, it feels great. But, when you shift from being proud of yourself to telling everyone how great you are, then you are shifting closer towards arrogance. It’s a fine balance. What side of it do you want to be on?

Reminder: Lewis’ Karate School is closed this Thurdsay.

Mounted Attack: Collar Choke

June 15, 2010

Gracie Jiu Jitsu Training in Toronto, Ontario, CanadaThis month on TeamLKS.com we are again featuring a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu technique excerpted from our featured book, Gracie Submission Essentials, which can be purchased in our Pro Shop. Buy a copy today!

From page 174, Technique #60: “Another great attack option from the mount when the opponent tries to elbow escape is this collar choke. Again, Royler quickly reacts to David’s escape attempt by going to the sidemount and applying this choke. The time, however, David’s right arm stays over Royler’s right arm as he tries the elbow escape.”

If you click on the image to the left, you will be able to view both page one and page two that cover this technique (remember to look for the page forward or back arrows that appear halfway up each side of the page).

Got questions? Remember to ask us at school!
