Message of the Week

Winners decide in advance, and prepare accordingly.

Please note: it is exam week at LKS. There are no regular classes on Thursday’s exam night; students who are grading should arrive 15 minutes prior to start time. Exam starts at 6:00 pm. Buddy Day follows at 7:00 pm, and BBC Trial Class is at 7:30 pm.

Reminder: Kevin Kearns’ seminar is Friday night; those who have not enrolled should do so asap.

Reminder: Our Blackbelt Spectacular is Saturday! Please see the pro shop for Candidate and Demo Team practice times for the day of the event.

Attack from Side Control: Parallel Choke

Again this month on TeamLKS.com, we are featuring a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu technique excerpted from the great book, Gracie Submission Essentials, which can be purchased in our Pro Shop. Buy one this week to help you review between classes!

From the book: “The parallel choke from the knee on the stomach position is a very powerful choke that will surprise many an opponent. Normally the choking hand comes in grabbing the opposite collar in a crossing pattern. In this case, the first hand does not change position from the normal control (behind the neck) so it doesn’t alert the opponent to the impending submission.”

Congratulations to Jason Figliano!

It is our pleasure to congratulate Jason Figliano, who was just awarded his Brown Belt in Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Jason is the Program Director at Robinson’s Karate Schools. Jason traveled to New Jersey earlier this month, and during a seminar hosted by Master Royler Gracie, Jason was awarded his Brown Belt from Master Royler Gracie, Professor David Adiv and Professor Paul Abel, with Chris Robinson on hand.
